AOL has recently turned the Ultravox protocol open-source. An article excerpt below:

Although Ultravox is heavily used internally, AOL representatives said that by opening
its source, the company "can better encourage industry adoption and accelerate the development
of the platform." Ultravox has been submitted at the Internet Streaming Media Alliance (ISMA)
to be considered as a standard transport protocol.

Cool Beans NSV downloader v1.0d

Thanks to the released Ultravox3 specification now it's easy for anybody to create their
own utilities to handle AOL streams. This program will allow you to save AOL nsv and nsa streams so that you can
play them locally on your computer.

use:

CoolBeans <url> <option>

The url can start with http:// or unsv:// and end with .nsv or .nsa
It's up to you to find the url.
There is only one option available:

-d This option will demux a NSV file into separate audio and video files without deleting
      the original file.

This program is freeware and offers no guarantees.

version

 1.0 original release

1.0b No longer needs the use of a temporary file.
Now there is a percentage indicator on downloads.

1.0c Better handling of longer urls and filenames. Previous versions would be prone to
         crashing on long urls.

1.0d Added SHOUTcast recording ability just because :) note: tested only on a few servers.
         Fixed some logic errors.
